Since 1974, the American Humane Society has recognized June as National Adopt a Cat Month, shining a light on the countless cats and kittens that end up in shelters during "kitten season." If you've been thinking about adding a furry friend to your home—or adopting your very first pet—now is the perfect time to consider a cat!

Compared to dogs, cats offer some unique benefits. They don’t need daily walks or outdoor potty breaks, and they’re usually content with a clean litter box, affection, and interactive playtime. While all pets bring joy, cats are often praised for being relatively self-sufficient and adaptable to various lifestyles.

Finding Your Purr-fect Match Cats come in all kinds of personalities—from mellow lap loungers to energetic explorers. That’s why it’s important to spend time at your local shelter to find a feline friend that fits your household. Meeting them in person helps you understand their temperament and ensure a good match.

Mature cats are a great choice as well! Cats can live long live - upwards of 18-20 if well cared for!

Thinking About Two? You’re Not Alone! While adopting one cat is a wonderful decision, adopting two can be even more rewarding! Many cats thrive with a feline companion to keep them active and socially engaged. Though not all cats enjoy the company of others (or dogs), shelters often have bonded pairs who are already proven pals—ready to bring twice the love into your life. Even better -- we often have bonded pairs available!

Two is twice as nice!
