Since 1974, the American Humane Society has recognized June as National Adopt a Cat Month, shining a light on the countless cats and kittens that end up in shelters during "kitten season." Compared to dogs, cats offer some unique benefits. They don’t need daily walks or outdoor potty breaks, and they’re usually content with a clean litter box, affection, and interactive playtime.
