A program of Annie’s Angels Memorial Fund, Chris' Pets for Vets honors the memory of Christopher Journeau, a young veteran of the US Army whose silent struggle with PTSD resulted in his suicide. As a way to offer companionship and comfort to veterans and active duty service members, this program offers to cover the adoption costs for veterans and active duty service members.
Service members looking to participate in this program must show proof of service with a DD214 upon approval for adoption.
Chris' Pets for Vets
The Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender program (otherwise known as PASS) aims to keep the animal in a home environment as much as possible. This program is ideal for people looking to re-home their pet without having to house them at a shelter. To be accepted into this program, animals must be be spayed or neutered and without any significant medical or behavioral concerns. SARL will provide basic vetting before advertising the animal as available for adoption. We then go through the same adoption process we use for our animals which involves potential adopters filling out an application and scheduling a meet and greet with the animal. We will find the best new home for your pet.
To apply, contact SARL:
This limited intake program is aimed to assist pet owners who are facing extreme personal situations such as domestic violence, tragedy (i.e. home burning down), rehab, temporary homelessness, etc. Applications are accepted on a month-to-month basis according to our current capacity at the shelter. During this time, SARL will provide medical attention, care, and nourishment for the animal.
