Salem Animal Rescue League receives no federal or state funding and is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization. We depend on your generous support to continue our efforts. Donated goods can be dropped off at the shelter any time between 10am - 4pm every day.
Unfortunately, there are some items we cannot accept as they pose a risk to the animals in one form or another. Theses items include: electric blankets, mattress pads, opened bags of food, pillows, rawhide, stuffed animals, used scratching posts, and wash cloths.
All donations are tax deductible. Not sure what some of our most-need items are? You can check them out and even purchase them through our Amazon Wish List.
Many employers will match your donation to the Salem Animal Rescue League — meaning that your gift has double the impact on our efforts to provide safe haven, compassionate care and new permanent homes for the many animals that come through our doors.
Ask your employer for details about their matching gift program. Filling out your employer’s form and providing proof of a donation to SARL is typically all that’s required.
GIFT & ESTATE PLANNING
You can leave a lasting legacy for homeless animals in need and maximize your philanthropic giving through sound and timely gift planning with the Salem Animal Rescue League. Planned giving allows you to achieve financial and estate goals by utilizing assets to provide income and tax benefits for yourself and your loved ones. Extending your support of the Salem Animal Rescue League through planned giving and matching gifts helps to ensure that your desire to help homeless animals in need continues.
Bequests - You can provide now for a future gift to the Salem Animal Rescue League by including a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust. Your assets will remain in your control during your lifetime, and you can modify your bequest if your circumstances change. Your gift will benefit SARL tomorrow just as you intend it to today.
Bequests made through your will may take various forms:
• Specific Bequest – directs a specific dollar gift or property to be passed to the Salem Animal Rescue League.
• Percentage Bequest – designates a percentage of the total value of the estate as a gift to the Salem Animal Rescue League.
• Residual Bequest – directs that the Salem Animal Rescue League receive the remainder of the estate, or a portion of the remainder, after all expenses and other bequests have been made.
To include us in your will or estate plan, you must specify the following information:
"I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to the Salem Animal Rescue League, a 501(c)(3) organization located at 4 SARL Drive, Salem, NH 03079 [written amount or percentage of the estate] for its unrestricted use and purpose."
We recognize and respect your privacy. If you are interested in providing for abandoned, neglected and injured animals that are served at SARL, please contact us at 603-893-3210. Your information will remain confidential and will not be shared with any private or financial institution.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Who can leave a legacy?
You don't have to be wealthy to leave a legacy. Everybody has an estate. Your money, property, and personal belongings constitute your estate. Every gift matters.
How do I leave a legacy?
Contact your attorney, insurance agent, accountant, or financial planner.
Why Planned Giving?
Many kind-hearted folks volunteer regularly and financially support the animal shelter during their lifetime. When they're gone, their support is sorely missed.
Kids and adults alike often ask their friends and family to buy presents for SARL's homeless animals instead of themselves for their special occasion.
